Protect your boat from unnecessary expenditure

Each survey for leisure yachts and motor boats is tailored to your needs – we understand that your vessel and your intended boating is unique and the report we produce will reflect this. We ensure that your critical questions about the boat will be answered. Above all, we want you to be safe, enjoy your boat – spending more time on the water than in the yard, and protect your budget from unnecessary expenditure…

We are located in Falmouth, Cornwall, surveying yachts and boats regionally as-well-as throughout Europe and further afield.

About Your Yacht Survey Report

All findings will be stated in a clear and concise manner with use of photos and video (where necessary). You will quickly be able to see current defects and potential failures alongside recommendations – all prioritised using our A, B and C ranking system, so you can rapidly understand key points and make an informed decision. We specifically focus on your intended type of boating so you can rest assured that we will identify whether your boat will be suitable and able for your intended voyages; whether they be coastal cruising with the family aboard, racing around the cans or offshore or simply pottering in your local waters.

Tom Hustler MSc Marine Surveying

Tom Hustler will be your surveyor when you employ Seaworthy Services to implement a survey. Tom has been on, in and around boats for as long as he can remember. He remains active on the water through coastal cruising, offshore racing and vessel deliveries. Some 120,000 nautical miles have been logged during his marine career and he currently maintains more than 5 professional certificates including Yachtmaster Ocean. Tom has also been responsible for project managing refits and maintenance programmes of a wide-range of boats.

Without doubt, Tom is passionate about boating and has combined this enthusiasm, experience and technical capabilities with a master’s degree in Marine Surveying: seldom seen in the unregulated marine surveying industry.

Additionally, Tom backs up his experience and qualifications with memberships to the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA), as well as the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMAREST). Maintaining membership with these associations and institutions requires a rigorous program of Continual Professional Development (CPD): essential for keeping in-touch with solutions within an industry that is innovating all the time. You will find him at boat shows, regattas, yacht clubs and boat yards; and if you see him, say Hi!

Survey Prices

We look at your needs and each vessel individually to ensure we are giving our best price. We work on a sliding scale based on vessel length, beam and on board equipment. This typically equates to approximately £12-£14 p/foot for a vessel up to 49ft. This directly relates to the time we need to invest in the survey and report, dependent on the type of survey requested and its scope.

For example, an owner of a Hurley 24 that wants to coastal cruise in the summer months will have a different expectation to the owner of a Club Swan 50 that wants to have an active racing campaign in the Mediterranean. Every service and / or survey is tailored to the individual boat, its owner and its intentions.

No VAT is charged and all quotes are fixed prices. We are able to offer multi vessel survey discounts. If you have any question or query then please just ask.
