Surveyor of Superyachts, both Motor and Sail

Each survey for Superyachts is tailored to your needs – we understand that these yachts can be completely custom, and we are therefore able to tailor each and every survey for each and every unique vessel. We ensure that any critical questions about the yacht will be answered. Above all, we want you to be safe, enjoy your yacht - spending more time on the water and in service than in the yard. We are located in Falmouth, Cornwall, surveying yachts and boats regionally as-well-as throughout Europe and further afield.

About your Superyacht survey experience

Superyachts are complex assets and they are treated as such during our visits for surveys.  Depending on the size and type, it is very common for a few of the team to be on board for several days.  More often than not the vessel will need to be hauled out at some stage during the survey period for a full underwater check.  We will typically arrive with our Principal Surveyor as well as colleagues that are qualified and specialise in marine engineering, marine electrical/electronics, rigging etc.  This will all depend on the size of the vessel and the scope of the work agreed.  By bringing in a team to undertake the survey, we are able to cover more area of the yacht quicker.  If you are unable to have the yacht hauled for the survey, we may be able to utilise a local commercial diving service, depending on scope.

About your Principal Surveyor - Tom Hustler

MSc, AYDSA, AMRINA

Tom has been on, in and around boats for as long as he can remember. He remains active on the water through coastal cruising, offshore racing and vessel deliveries. With spending so much time on boats, Tom thought he could combine his passion with his experience and offer services to other enthusiasts as a marine surveyor and consultant. Alongside his Commercial Master 200t and Chief Mate licenses, Tom has logged well in excess of 120,000 nautical miles whilst at sea.  With a plan developed years before physically moving ashore, Tom completed a Diploma and subsequent Master’s Degree in Marine Surveying and can now boast as being one of only very few in the world to be awarded this accolade. During his studies in Marine Surveying Tom specialised in the surveying of Superyachts and the ISM code, ensuring that he was seriously tested on the subject he was planning a more technical role in… Tom's skills and knowledge is augmented by several colleagues from within the surveying, engineering and superyacht industry, ensuring the accuracy and quality of your vessel's survey remains paramount. Surveyors with Seaworthy Services are all memberships with the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA), International Institute of Marine Surveyors (IIMS), Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and technology (IMarEST), or the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA). Maintaining membership with these associations and institutions requires a program of Continuous Professional Development (CPD), of which Seaworthy Services is very involved.
